Way back in 1946, two Detroit Engineers by the names of Frank Cotter and G. Howlett Davis created the first insulated tumbler. They decided to name their company by taking the last three letters of each of their last names and let a coin flip decide on Tervis. It probably worked out better because Vister doesn’t really have the same ring to it.
Not too long after the Tervis brand was bought and relocated to Osprey, Florida by John C. Winslow, where the first storefront was opened. Over the years since then, the sizes have grown and they have added many new items to their store, including coffee mugs, wine glasses, and most recently stainless steel tumblers. There are many different designs you could get from all areas of life, and some are personalizable.

Each of these tumblers can be personalized for an additional $5 if you want. There are different sizes of each, ranging from 10 oz – 24 oz.
There is a lifetime guarantee on the classic double-walled plastic line of drinkware which has defects, and there is also a 5-year limited guarantee on the stainless steel options. Normal wear and tear obviously are not covered, but it is nice to know if there is a manufacturer defect after you purchase the item it will be replaced with the same item.

hello, i really want to first appreciate your effort in putting this great website together and writing this article. getting quality tumblers that can withstand falling is a good thing especially if you have kids like mine. these special tervis tumblers that you have posted are so beautiful, but can i get them cheaper at the local store?
you may be able to find them at your local stores, I know that Cabela’s sells them, the prices vary and are not too different from what you see online.
Wow! I wish I had seen this site a week ago. Most everyone in my family are college football fanatics. More than half are crazy about USC but we have a few Stanford fans as well. I am going to bookmark this site for birthdays. I know the cups.. they are great either hot or cold. Thanks for illustrating the huge variety available. Does Tervis put out any cups on pro teams? They have a full selection of NFL cups, as well as the MLB, NBA, and NHL!

Id like to purchase some of these tumblers for friends and family but am unsure which ones are customizable. I’m thinking of using pictures drawn by my children as designs for the Tervis’ so that grandparents, aunts and uncles have something useful but also personal.
Which item would you recommend for this purpose?
All of the tumblers listed on this page are customizable, but when you get into the site it specifies which tumblers you can personalize. Unfortunately at the moment, you can only choose words to enter onto the tumbler, but they can still leave messages for their grandparents and aunts and uncles.

I did not know that this type of tumbler was inventing more than 50 years ago! I have mine that always accompanies me in the car. It is like a pet! 🙂

I agree it was local back then so if you lived in the area you were ahead of the game! It is only customizable with text at this time, but there are different fonts and styles you can use to make it your own!
